The Sangam Kela Legacy

Grovera Farms' roots trace back to 1983 when Mr. Santosh Kanhaiyalal Agrawal founded Sangam Kela Agency in Raver, Maharashtra — one of India's premier banana trading hubs. That deep expertise in banana cultivation, grading, and supply-chain discipline forms the backbone of everything we do today.

The Banana Capital of Central India

Raver taluka in Jalgaon district has been the heartland of banana cultivation for over a century. The black soil, Tapi river basin, and 300+ sunny days make it one of the most productive banana belts anywhere in Asia.

🌍

Ideal Geography

Raver sits at the southern edge of the Satpura range, where alluvial black cotton soil holds moisture through the dry months. Bananas here grow heavier and sweeter than most competing regions.

🚂

Trade Connectivity

Rail links to Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata markets were established decades ago. Raver's banana traders built a network that moves thousands of tonnes every week — our family was part of that from day one.

👨‍🌾

Generations of Expertise

Banana farming here is passed down through families. The growers, commission agents, and packers share knowledge accumulated over lifetimes — there is no substitute for that kind of experience.

Sangam Kela Agency — Since 1983

What started as a one-man banana commission shop on Raver market road grew into one of the most trusted names in the region's banana trade. Here is how it happened.

Sangam Kela Agency Founded

Mr. Santosh Kanhaiyalal Agrawal opened a small banana commission and trading agency in Raver's APMC market yard. With one notebook, a weighing scale, and relationships built on handshake, he began buying directly from farmers and supplying to wholesale markets in Mumbai and Pune.

Building the Network

By the early '90s, Sangam Kela Agency was handling over 200 tonnes per season. The business expanded to include cold-chain logistics and direct rail consignments to APMC Vashi (Navi Mumbai). Farmers trusted the agency because payments were always on time — sometimes the same evening.

Second Generation Joins

The next generation brought modern grading systems and quality benchmarks. Bananas were sorted by size, colour, and maturity stage before dispatch. This consistency is what kept institutional buyers coming back year after year.

Diversification Begins

Seeing the opportunity in protected cultivation, the family invested in NVPH polyhouses on the same farmland. Leafy greens, herbs, and exotic vegetables joined the banana operations. Sangam Kela Agency's supply-chain discipline became the foundation for what would become Grovera Farms.

Grovera Farms — Beyond the Farm

Three generations later, the banana trade runs alongside 50+ varieties of polyhouse produce. The same values — honest weights, fair prices, reliable supply — still apply. Sangam Kela Agency is not a chapter in our past; it is the reason Grovera Farms exists.

Today

Banana Operations — Field to Market

Every bunch goes through a careful process before it reaches your facility. No shortcuts, no mixed grades, no guesswork.

🌱

Farm-Gate Sourcing

We buy directly from 80+ farmers across Raver, Savda, and Yawal talukas. No middlemen. Farmers get fair mandi rates plus advance payment support during planting season.

🔍

Hand Grading

Each lot is sorted by finger length, girth, and maturity. Grade A goes to industrial kitchens and export. Grade B supplies local mandis. Nothing gets mixed — buyers know exactly what they are getting.

📦

Eco-Crate Packing

We pack in ventilated 20kg and 50kg reusable crates — not cardboard boxes that collapse in transit. Newspaper padding protects fingers from bruising. Every crate is labelled with lot number and harvest date.

🚛

Cold-Chain Logistics

Temperature-controlled transport from Raver to destination markets. We maintain 13–14°C during transit to slow ripening. Most shipments reach Mumbai, Pune, or Nashik within 8–12 hours of harvest.

📋

Consistent Supply

Banana is a year-round crop in Raver. We stagger our sourcing across farms with different planting cycles, so there is never a gap. Weekly supply contracts are available for institutional buyers.

🤝

Trade Relationships

Many of our buyers have been with us since the Sangam Kela days — some for 25+ years. When you call us, you speak to the family, not a call centre. That is how business was done and still is.

Banana Varieties & Applications

We supply raw (cooking) bananas and select dessert varieties. Each has its own use case — from industrial chip manufacturing to temple offerings.

🍌

Raw Banana (Kachha Kela)

The backbone of our trade. Firm green bananas used for chips manufacturing, sabzi preparation in industrial kitchens, and institutional catering. Supplied in 20–50kg bulk crates with consistent finger sizing.

🍌

Elaichi Banana

Small, sweet variety popular for pujas, temple offerings, and premium fruit baskets. We supply this seasonally in 10–15kg cartons. High demand during Navratri, Ganesh Chaturthi, and wedding season.

🍌

Grand Naine (G9)

The most commercially cultivated dessert banana in India. Uniform shape, good shelf life, and sweet flavour. Supplied to supermarket chains, fruit vendors, and export aggregators in graded lots.

We have been buying raw bananas from the Agrawal family since the Sangam Kela days. The grading is always accurate and the supply never stops, even during monsoon. That kind of reliability is rare in this trade.

Our catering kitchen needs 500 kg of raw banana every week. Grovera's supply is like clockwork — same size, same quality, delivered on time. We switched from our old vendor three years ago and never looked back.

I supply bananas to four APMC markets in Mumbai. When I need consistent Grade A lots without any surprises, I call Grovera. The paperwork is clean, weights are honest, and they answer the phone at 5 AM.
